For companies and individuals

Payments to overseas recipients

Two scenarios for different needs. A company deal under contract runs on the agent model, with an agency agreement and a set of closing documents. A private transfer is a direct send to the recipient abroad, from a few hours.

Two scenarios — different rules

Pick your case: a company paying under contract, or a private transfer to a recipient abroad.

ConditionHow it works
Minimum amountfrom $1,000 or the equivalent, the same for every destination
ContractRequired above RUB 3,000,000, and it needs a clause on payment by a third party. No clause — an addendum is drawn up. Up to RUB 3M an invoice is enough
TimelineThe recipient sees the funds within 1–3 business days after your payment arrives
RateLocked when the invoice is issued and held until 16:00 MSK. If you pay later — recalculation or return of the payment

Your request is handled by a specialist sales manager: they check the goods, the counterparty and the documents, and state the terms before the operation starts.

Where payments get stuck

Six reasons the recipient never sees the money

A Russian party in the contract

The recipient's bank sees a Russian counterparty and turns the payment back at compliance. The most common reason for a rejection.

The supplier won't open an account

The counterparty can't or won't open an account with the bank you normally pay through.

The payment is stuck in the chain

A correspondent bank holds or returns the funds without explaining why.

Compliance asks for documents

Correspondence with the bank drags on for weeks, while the supplier holds the shipment until the payment arrives.

No clause on payment by a third party

The contract makes no provision for payment on the buyer's behalf. Solved with an addendum before work starts.

The service isn't backed by documents

Services require work completion certificates. Without proof that the transaction is real, it is not processed.

How a deal under contract works

Six steps from invoice to closing documents

  1. 1You send us the invoice or the payment details
  2. 2We lock the rate and the payment terms
  3. 3We sign an agency agreement and issue an invoice in rubles
  4. 4You pay the invoice from your company account
  5. 5Within 1–3 business days after the funds arrive, the recipient sees the payment
  6. 6You receive payment confirmation and the closing document set

About the rate. It is locked when the invoice is issued and holds until 16:00 Moscow time. If you pay later, the amount may be recalculated for the rate difference or the payment returned — so it is best to pay the invoice on the day it is issued.

Send us the invoice or the bank details

A manager will check the recipient and the documents, pick the format and state the terms before the operation starts.

What we need from you

  • The invoice or the recipient's bank details
  • A contract with the supplier — above RUB 3M
  • A company details sheet — for deals under contract
  • Your payment preferences: country, currency, special conditions

For a private transfer, the recipient's bank details and the amount are enough.

Documents after the payment

  • Agency agreement or agency contract
  • Addendum
  • Invoice
  • Payment order
  • Agent's report
  • Confirmation that the payment went through

The set is issued for company deals. For a private transfer you receive payment confirmation.

What we check before we start

  • Your company and its beneficiaries under AML and KYC procedures
  • The recipient's jurisdiction — the list is reviewed monthly
  • The goods or the service. For services — work completion certificates
  • The deal documents. If the data does not match, the operation is stopped

What we don't handle

Payments for dual-use goods: special alloys and chemical precursors, microelectronics and chips, supercomputers and specialized software, encryption and navigation equipment, components for aircraft, drones and missiles, nuclear materials.

EAST PAY complies with AML and KYC requirements and reserves the right to decline to support operations that do not meet its internal regulations and applicable law.

The other direction

You need to collect proceeds from a foreign buyer

The same agent model and the same manager. The threshold is higher — from $20,000 — and an export contract is always required.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked

Didn't find your answer — message a manager and we'll help you sort it out.

What is the minimum amount you work with for companies?

From $1,000 or the equivalent — the threshold is the same for every destination. For receiving export proceeds from a foreign buyer it is higher: from $20,000.

Do I need a contract with the supplier?

Above RUB 3,000,000 a contract is required, and it needs a clause on payment by a third party. If there is no such clause, an addendum is drawn up. Up to RUB 3,000,000 an invoice is enough.

Who sends the money to my supplier?

A non-resident company acting under an agency agreement in the interests of your company. You see its bank details in the agreement and the invoice before you pay.

Why does the invoice have to be paid the same day?

The rate is locked when the invoice is issued and holds until 16:00 Moscow time. If you pay later, the amount may be recalculated for the rate difference or the payment returned.
