For companies and individuals

Paying a supplier in China

When your supplier's bank turns the payment back because of the Russian party in the contract, the money is sent by a non-resident company — via Alipay, WeChat or a bank transfer. Funds are credited in one to two hours, and your accounting team keeps a full set of closing documents.

Why a direct payment fails

What your supplier's bank sees

Chinese banks consistently check the origin of funds. When a supplier brings a contract to compliance and the other party to it is a Russian company, the payment is turned back — whatever the goods and the amount. This is the most common reason for a refusal on the China route.

Under the agency arrangement, the funds are sent to the supplier by a non-resident company. The Russian party does not appear in the payment itself, while your company remains a party to the contract and receives the closing documents.

Payment formats

Three ways to send money to China

Alipay

from RUB 1M for companies

Funds credited to the supplier's wallet. You need a QR code for receiving payment or the wallet details.

1–2 hours · the recipient's wallet must be verified

WeChat Pay

private transfer

The same principle: a QR code of the recipient's wallet. Works when your supplier operates through WeChat.

1–2 hours · the recipient's wallet must be verified

Bank account

from CNY 40,000

A transfer to an individual's card or account in China. You need the recipient's name, bank and account number.

The threshold is higher than for wallets

The format is chosen to match how your supplier is ready to receive the money. A manager will tell you what is available for your deal after checking the recipient.

Not sure which format fits?

Send us the supplier's bank details or the wallet QR code — a manager will check the recipient and suggest a method.

What is imported from China

Cars and machinery

A separate area with its own requirements: you will need customs receipt orders for the past one to two months and details of the import method.

Consumer goods

Regular batch purchases from several suppliers. The arrangement is set up once and then repeats without renegotiation.

Equipment

Large one-off deliveries where both the timing and the payment confirmation matter for the shipment to go ahead.

Services and marketing

Promotion on marketplaces, development, design. For services you also need work completion certificates — without proof that the transaction is genuine, it is not processed.

The counterparty's bank account turned out to be unavailable. The payment was made in another format — through a wallet, with confirmation and closing documents.

Questions and answers

About the China route

General questions about the scheme and documents are on the section page.

What do you need to send us for the payment?

The Alipay or WeChat wallet QR code so the funds can be credited, or the recipient's full bank details: name, account number and bank name. For a company deal, also an invoice and your company details sheet.

Why does a Chinese bank turn the payment back?

At compliance the bank sees the Russian party in the supplier's contract and refuses to process it. Under the agency arrangement the funds are sent by a non-resident company, and the Russian party does not appear in the payment.

What does “the wallet must be verified” mean?

The recipient's wallet must pass identification in the payment system. Funds will not be credited to an unverified wallet — this is a restriction of the system itself, not ours.

Can you receive a transfer from China?

No. On the China route we only send funds to the recipient. Receiving money from foreign companies works on the European route.

What is the minimum amount for China?

A private transfer starts from CNY 1,000. A transfer to an individual's bank account starts from CNY 40,000. Payment via Alipay for company deals starts from RUB 1 million.

We are paying for services, not for goods — does anything change?

Yes. For services you also need work completion certificates — proof that the transaction is genuine. Without them the payment is not processed.
